My Car - The Future

I bought this car because I wanted to do a full, correct restoration on a Camaro. That was 20 years ago, and I have been trying to get is as close to original as possible ever since. Original restorations are still my favorite cars, but they aren't always the most comfortable for cruising around. My car also suffers from the common ride problems of a convertible unibody vehicle. It flexes and bounces and is generally irritating.

So recently I've been intriqued by the whole Pro Touring scene. Getting another Camaro to experiment with is always the best solution, but there is an obstacle in the way (WIFE), so I've decided to bring this car more up to modern standards. Now before all you purists get your panties in a bunch, there are no plans to cut the car up. All of the original parts will be saved. My budget is very low so there won't be any radical changes, just ones aimed at improving the ride quality, handling and performance.

So far I've installed some swaybars, and am currently installing some Hotchkis sub-frame connectors. I will report back the results of these improvements as they're finished. The swaybars went in last Fall and I got to drive the car a couple of times afterward. The swaybars made a HUGE difference in handling. Some may say that the 1-1/8" front bar is too big and will hurt handling, but to me it's a big improvement.
