This site was developed using freely available open source tools and uses nothing from or required by that big nasty company from Redmond.
The pages are written in
PHP 5 v5.1.6 and make calls to a
MySQL 5 v14.12 distrib 5.0.27 database. Images were created using
the Gimp v2. Everything was coded the old-fashioned way; without the use of silly tools like Dreamweaver, FrontPage or Photoshop. Not that there's anything wrong with those tools (I'm just not patient enough to figure them out).
Thanks to Stu Nicholls of
CSSplay for the CSS framework used in the menu's.
Development and testing is done on a Dell 500SC server running the
Fedora Core 6 Linux distribution.
The site has been tested on the following browsers...
- Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 (Windows, Mac and Linux)
- Safari (Mac), Safari 3 Beta (Windows)
- Internet Explorer 6 and 7
- Opera 9.26 (Windows and Linux)
... but we encourage you to use Firefox. After all, what other browser will work on any OS?
Pages on this site have been tested to comply with valid XHTML and CSS standards (and most even pass!). It is also in compliance with section 508 as indicated by the icons at the bottom of the page.
