| Welcome to my little corner of the internet, a site that hopes to be a helpful reference for a neglected segment of first generation Camaro's; the Butternut Yellow color cars. Why Butternut Yellow? Well, for no other reason than because I have one, and because no one else seems to pay them much attention. Although the name of this site is Y2 Camaro, we're partial to all Butternut Yellow Camaro's so we'll be featuring YY, Y1 and any other combination cars as well. |
| Butternut Yellow was available as a color choice for the Camaro in 1967, 1968 and even early 1969 before it was replaced by the much brighter Daytona Yellow. Although Butternut Yellow cars seem scarce today, it was the third most popular color for 67 Camaro's with 12.5% of that years production sporting this color. In 1968 that number was 7.7%, and by 1969 it had dropped to .8% of production before Butternut Yellow was replaced with Daytona Yellow. |
| Most Butternut Yellow cars came with a black interior, although Gold and White were also popular choices. We've even seen a 69 with a yellow houndstooth interior. If the car was a convertible or had a vinyl top, the color choice for the top was either black or white. |
| The color used on Camaro's as Butternut Yellow was also available on other GM models under other names. For Oldsmobile it was called Saffron. Over at Pontiac it was known as Mayfair Maize. And on Buicks it was referred to as Cameo Cream. |
